Finals
I hope that I didn't make any grammar mistakes

Disappointment
Well, my first year will soon be over and I will be flying home for summer in around two weeks.
Excited? Yes.
But it's really because I can't wait to get rid of this unmanageable hair of mine.
Long story short, I hate having long hair.
Fortunately, I'm not here to talk about my hair.
I don't know if this blog of mine has any readers but that's the least of my concern.
It's my space to scribble my thoughts and rants.
What's she on about now?

May
Oh no!
It's May!
A day that I dread is coming close, and there's nothing I can do to stop it.
Talk about a tough start for a month.
She's about to go nuts!

Bone To Pick
Well, it seems that finals tend to get me really edgy; not even 黒崎君 or 和樹会長、宮地君、錫也君 can calm the storm that I feel inside.
Even Matt is clueless to how to deal with me; his hugs and cuddles would usually quell and soothe the rages that I sometimes have.
Find out about her secret boyfriend and who got on her bad side this time
[Warning: She's about to have a long rant. Unless you really want to know, she suggests that you press the red 'X' button on your tab or just click on another link]

Under Fire
Yeah, I'm feeling the heat, both literally and metaphorically speaking.
My finals are next week and I can't believe that my brain fails to register the panic and stress that I'm supposed to have.
Does that mean that I've lost it?
Since I'm on organic chem, might as well add something I read in the newspaper today.
See how badly she procrastinates
Tuesday, April 6, 2010
Whadda-what?
Oh my GAWD!
It's already April! A few more weeks till my finals...
*realizes the degree of crap that she's landed herself in*
No doubt, I've been eating, sleeping and crapping with organic chem in my head.
I even try to imagine the structural formula of the hydrocarbons that I read off the cleanser and toner that I use.
Yes, winternite has gone insane.
See how did studying drive her nuts.

Freaking Out
I'm not exactly freaking out though; I don't have the time to.
Yeah, I know that I've not been really actively blogging recently; I blame my studies for it.
You could practically see from my to-do list that I have added a whole lot to do and have almost virtually done none.
Well, I've finished the Physics part of my attempt to recover my lost files when I lost my pendrive. I just have to work on the Chem and Math part right now.
Read on to see how college life isn't as fun as depicted on TV

漫画お宅
始めました,あたしわ鳳惠。こにちわ!
Lol, I finally figured out the way to get my keyboard input to type kana.
I've also found the way to enable my taskbar to display in unicode, so that both Chinese and Japanese could be featured.
Even my calender is in Japanese...
See, I do learn some useful stuff while on the internet!
Oh yeah, I'm sorry for not updating often. Been sorta busy with finals and stuff... Life.
I'm just dropping off to say that I'll be adding some new stuff to my blog around three weeks from now, which is when I'm on sem break.
I've also noticed that there are some readers from Japan coming to this blog to look for raws... which is kinda odd.
There are no raws here, but there will be something else that I will put up later on.
Gotta go study Bio now, last paper tomorrow.

Mmhmm...
I'm not dead, yet.
Just very busy...
Like I'm half swallowed by the dreaded monster known as Life.
Still writing, just a tad behind schedule.
Have a whole bunch of stuff to finish this week.
Stupid tests and quizzes.
Gosh...
I really need a vacation soon.

Finished
I'm finally done.
Yup, my first ever college finals.
YAY!
*feels giddy*
*throws confetti and jumps up high*
You know, I was almost late for the paper.
Initially, I thought that it was going to start at 10.30, so I got up at 9.00 and dallied my way to 9.40.
Usually, I leave my house half an hour before the time even though I live only five minutes away by car.
Even at my mildly slow driving, I still get there in 15 minutes, 20 tops.
It was lucky of me to walk to kitchen to get my cup for my breakfast drink and just happened to glance at the post-it note I wrote for my mom to know my exam schedule.
I looked at the clock again, abandoned my cup (and my breakfast) and rushed out the door.
Luck seemed to be on my side as each traffic light I passed was green the moment I reached it.
I reached the exam hall just as the students were walking in.
The paper was decent (I don't want to jinx it by saying it was e***).
Most of the objective questions were what we learned back in Form 5, just in English instead of Malay.
Thanks to the tips given by the lecturer last Monday, I was able to answer the structure and essay components with ease.
I did the question on the expansion of the tin industry and its effect on the socio-economy and the formation of the government instead of the question on the foreign policies because I felt that I had better chance with the former question.
I think I wrote a little too much on the formation of government, but who cares.
I finished 15 minutes ahead of time, but wasn't allowed to leave the room. So I just sat there and looked at some furiously scribbling while some idled with a 'I don't know how to do' look.
James, who sat next to me, barely finished in time. He was still filling up the MQS when the examiner took my paper.
I'll let you in on a secret though, I idled away my Sunday instead of studying for MS. I only started reading on the structure and essay parts at 1 in the morning and finished an hour later.
In other news, I was wondering around the RomCom blog (Simon & Schuster) when I stumbled upon this site which was introduced by Jennifer Echols.
It's the National Novel Writing Month, or NaNo for short.
It's where participants dedicate the whole of their November writing a novel of any genre. At the end of November, participants who have finished will send in their entries.
The winner will have their novel sent to publishers for viewing, that means you might have a chance to be published!
I registered myself and am now in the running for it too.
I realized that, I just can't wait around for things to happen anymore.
If I want something, I'll just have to make an effort to grab it!
If it's meant to be, then it's meant to be.
It's not like I'm very confident in my writing.
Writing has never been a serious thing for me, because I never considered it as a career choice.
Even when my teachers back in sec school (or high school, if you may) encouraged me to take up creative writing courses and major in English in college, I told them that it just isn't possible.
Given my background and my practical parents, they would never agree to me having writing as a serious career.
And it's also why I'm doing my foundation year in Science instead of Literature.
I do like writing, but I don't know what's going to happen in future.
I'd probably just do it as a hobby, but who knows what the future holds?

Editing
If you're a Facebook user and happen to have me as a friend, then you'd probably read my status update.
I'm learning how to edit manga over studying for my final paper.
This is the product of what I learned!
Ahaha, this is what I initially wanted to project after two hours of watching my captive bishies.
Yes, a nosebleed.
And Rei is my REAL Japanese name. Not Kikimi like some stupid brat said a year ago.
My name in Romanji (converted from Kanji) is Taka Irei.
I prefer Rei, so I'm gonna stick with it.
Well, now I can use Photoshop to edit manga instead of just using it to watermark stuff and make polaroids, avatars and banners.
I seriously can't draw with it though; I really suck at art.
My progress in editing had to be stalled all because I couldn't engage quick mask, which is needed to get rid of gutter shadows.
And the root of it is, I can't afford to get the real copy of Photoshop (it's around 200+ bucks, WAAAAAY over my budget).
The cracked version rendered the hotkeys useless.
I was using the trial copy before and got used to doing everything with the hotkeys.
It's really terrible when you have to keep clicking on the Menu toolbar just to select the image.
If I can get a real copy to replace the cracked one and manage to master editing, I can be a real threat!
Translating, proofreading, editing, typesetting and quality checking...I can't wait till I can start my Japanese and Korean classes!
Oh well, since I don't feel like reading about the country's boring history (what's so interesting without the conspiracies, assassinations and bloodshed; it's only about a bunch of people getting outsmarted-it's the nicest possible way to put it...) I'll get a head start on my translating.
I think I'll probably get a few script to proof tomorrow.
Edit: I was translating Shape of Love when I found this gutter shadow free-page.
This is the page before the cleaning and typesetting.
And this is the page after the editing. (Click on the images to enlarge and compare.)
Out of all the fonts I have, smudger was the closest I have to manga text.
I had a tough time cloning the side and getting rid of the huge sfx on the wall.
I finished this in an hour.
I know, I know...I'm rather bad at it. But practice makes perfect, ne?

Changes
I dunno.
I've 'reconnected' with most of my primary (or elementary school, if you want to 'Westernize' the term) mates via Facebook.
They've changed, a whole lot.
I guess people do change, even when terms like 'a leopard can't change its spots' comes to mind.
I don't know what they'd say if they see me at the reunion. (If there is one, that is.)
They'd probably comment on my appearance.
Hey, it's not my fault that my hair color is a genetic problem; I didn't ask for it.
I'm more brunette than I was.
And then there's my English, which makes me more 'banana' in their eyes.
Well, who really cares.
Oh yeah...I've got another round of wallpaper to show!
Hehe...
This one is kinda nice.
One for the Naruto fans.
Oo, I love this one!
I like this one, too. The clock adds a nice touch.
This one is just cute.
This is suits me more. I love black.
This one looks like the one I found before. This one is Vocaloid while the other one was from 家庭教師ヒットマンREBORN!
This one isn't bad either. And I love the MP3!
A forum poster had this one, but I didn't know that I could actually find it.
This is is for 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 fans who love Nagato Yuki. (I know you're out there...)
And last but not least, something for the Final Fantasy fans.
I love her gloves. I wonder where I could get one...
That's it for now.
I think these wallpapers will last me for another say...two months?
I like collecting them, but I'll only use a few that I really like.
Most of them have dark background so that it doesn't hurt my eyes when I'm staying up late on the computer.
I'll go flip through my Math book now.
The finals start tomorrow and I have to be there at 12 just for the MS scope class.
*sigh*

ARGHHH
Well, you guys must be puzzled by my title...like always.
Yeah, that's me after studying for a whole week. I'm so sick of it that I'm not even bothered about continuing Physics, which is my weakest subject.
I've been doing absolutely nothing the whole day.
I went out to the Curve and got myself some new clothes.
And no, there won't be any pictures of my ugly self.
When I came home, I did nothing but browsed through the wallpaper section of my bookmarks to get some wallpapers.
And I also downloaded a new theme for my computer. I was getting real tired looking at the one I have.
So, these are the results.
This is my computer with the old theme. Boring, right?
And I love watermarking my stuff. It gives me a reason to use Photoshop.
And these are with the new theme.
I'll give you a cookie if you can spot the differences.

I think I will put this for my laptop, when I get it.
Bro says that this doesn't suit my image. I like it, so the heck with it.
I think this one will work too.
I love this one. It's exactly what I do every freaking day.
I don't remember where I got this wallpaper. It's still one of the best one I've ever seen.
Speaking of which, I have a whole lot of backed-up manga...again.
I think there's 3+GB worth of it unzipped.
I'm afraid of busting my hard drive, so I dare not unzip any one of these until I clear some room. There are a few series coming to an end soon.
But I think it'd be hell the day that it does.
Well, that's the price to pay for countless hours of pure pleasure and bliss.

Perhaps
Okay, maybe college life isn't as exciting as I thought it was.
The days has gone by with me lamenting on how I wish that I didn't have [insert Physics/ Chemistry/ Math test/ quiz] on the next day.
Yes, I now have a budding dislike for the constant quizzing and assessments.
I used to think that the assessments would do me good instead of harm.
But what I didn't factor in is my inability to actually remember what I'm supposed to during that crucial moment when sitting in that quiet room to ponder over the question.
Perhaps I'm not cut out for the 'Western' style of education that I wanted throughout my sec school years.
Perhaps I'm the kind that only can do the 'two tests and two exams in a year' sort of education; that's how education was for me for the past say...11 years of my life?
And just because I'm not cut out of it doesn't mean that I'm not going to try.
All I need is a whole lot of blank paper, the thick and heavy reference books that I borrowed from the library and hauled three floors down campus and one floor up home, my stationary and calculator, my MP3 and most importantly...A strong cup of caffeine-infused drink.
Make that a mocha java or a can of Kickapoo.
Let's start cracking!

Run, Don't Walk
Oddly enough, the title does apply to me this time.
I can't afford to walk and smell the roses any more.
I think I might have overestimated my ability of time-management and might have bitten more than I can chew.
Yeah, I'm talking about my translations.
I received a PM from Wataame Shoujo regarding my application to be a translator.
If they accept me, I'll be working for a total of 9 groups!
Yeah, you heard me. NINE
Well, I'm only receiving work from 6 out of the 8 I previously applied for.
I haven't not heard of any oncoming projects from Ochibichan nor J-Sis and I ain't complaining at all.
But the work of the 6 has already buried half of me; the other half is with assignments.
Gosh...
Right...Shoujo Crusade just sent me a PR test and the download has finally finished.
I guess I'll take that test, finish half of Hyper Baby and then spend the rest of my night practicing for the Math quiz.
Yes, I don't think that I'll be sleeping today.

Stream
No,I'm not talking about water streams.
It's more like streams of work.
Yes, I'm finally feeling a lil under pressure with my course.
But it's not anything that I'll break under.
I have a Physics test tomorrow (gasp! How long was it since the Orientation?) and a Math quiz next Tuesday (Oh gawd, logarithms...).
So...
Attention to all Admins & Staffers,
Be prepared to expect slow releasing scripts from me
...There, I have stated my reasons.
Now...Off to revise on vectors.
Oh, why the hell does it have to involve Trig?!

Happiness
...is probably one emotion I can never fully enjoy.
Well, I sat for my Undang today.
Heh, I'll just let you guess how I did.
But that will be revealed later on.
Today, mom got us out of the house early, cause she had lots to do.
She had to take my sister to see the doctor;
She had to take my bro to see the coach so that he could see the bow.
Yes, the school FINALLY offers archery but I ALREADY graduated from the school. Ironic, isn't it?
She had to drop bro and I off so that the instructor can take us there.
On my way there, I saw many of my ex-schoolmates.
Like Jimmy from 5C at Tmn Megah. I think he was working already.
Then, I saw Min Wei who is also from 5C. He was going to take the exam too.
After that, I saw Lydia at the test site, but she was already leaving.
Then, I saw David at Kelana Jaya's MRT station when we were heading back. I don't know him that well, other than being expelled once. He was with his girlfriend.
Later on, I saw Michelle driving past us while we were walking to Casa Impian.
Anyways, I'll get back to the test site.
Everyone was reading their book, except for me.
Not that I'm confident or anything, but I just wanted to get it done and over with.
But the thought of failing was dancing in my head the entire time.
FYI: I only did some of the sample questions yesterday, 500 of them.
So when the guy in charge called my name, I just stood up, took my ic and the number and headed to the desk.
Okay, it's fully computerized; so the only thing I'm worried about is clicking the wrong answer.
When I did the test for colour-blindness, that didn't worry me too much.
So was the static questions.
When it came to the real part, I just moved like normal.
I did hesitate on a few questions, and was unsure about 11 of them.
I was the third person to leave the room.
I'll talk about looking at a bow now.
Archery is one of the few games that I really want to play. So goes for martial arts, paintball and rock / wall climbing.
The equipment altogether costs around 2000+. And that's for the amateur bow, Korean or American made.
Like my dad says, I have expensive taste.
But bro's the one buying it first, since he needs it for competition in two weeks.
I'll try my luck to get one once I finish my stint.
See, it ruined everything.
Now, I'll talk about my result.
Okay since I've purposely deliberated, I must have given the impression that I didn't pass.
I mean, who exactly dallies on a piece of good (not to you, but me) news huh?
Your guess is...WRONG!
It's the excitement that kills, ne?
Of course I passed!
I don't think I'd be able to live it down knowing that my cousin can do it at one go while I can't.
Yes, I was the third to go out of the room, but the first to pass.
The two who came out before me didn't.
So, I'm heading to some workshop tomorrow and stand / sit for another 6 hours till my ass cramps or my legs go numb, whichever comes first.
And probably in a few weeks, I'd be the one behind the wheels; taking bro and sis to school.
...Woohooo...That's a future to look forward to.
*groans*

Split in Two
The melancholic feel has come back, again. I hate it.
While driving to my grandpa's for dinner, the topic of further education has somehow wriggled and squirmed its way into the conversation; and that's where I've found myself facing a fork road.
Truth be told, I'm not sure what and where I want to be, or what I'm interested in. Yes, I'm quite fickle.
I know a few of my friends have already started their college courses; Cass is taking mass com, Alex has flown far to take Pol-Sci in Stanford, Fookix taking law, Felicia taking...I think it's architecture, and Jake is taking computer science. A few others are planning to take Form 6, like Kok Shien, Cynthia and Max; while some others are out in the real world.
Only a few others, including me, are still very clueless and still floating in between the transition of graduating from high / secondary school to attending college / university.
My previous plan was to take a matriculation course and then enter university. Well, I've gotten part of my future figured out- the college part that is. But what to do after that, I'm not quite sure.
A year ago, I set myself to study pharmacy. But thinking back, it's kinda like a one rank job. There's no corporate ladder to climb; you're stuck there until you retire. I want something where I can climb and well...earn a pretty good living.
Dad did say that I could get my bachelors or masters in pharma then do a degree in business management; that way, I can manage a hospital.
He then added that I could be a doctor, a specialist to be more specific. It takes around 11 years (or somewhere around there) of studying to be a specialist. By the time I get out of school, I'll be...30! WTH!
(30 is still an estimation and only if I do 1 1/2 years of matriculation. I think it takes 7 years to be a GP and another 4 to specialize in a certain human anatomy.)
Both jobs have the same advantage; it'll be one of the first professional job amongst all my cousins and second amongst the whole family, uncles and aunts included (first is dad).
I don't know about mom's side of the family though, there are a whole bunch of lawyers, engineers and doctors at her side.
It's really tough making a decision on one's future career, it's like making a gamble with your life at stake. I did tell him that and he told me to take Form 6. Over my dead body. I don't want to go through hell again. As if I'm not already sick of the exam-oriented scheme. I still recall him saying that STPM is one exam that'll scar you for the rest of your life. Even he still admits that he has nightmares about it.
Gah, I don't want to think about it anymore. I'll just wait for the results to be out in March and just go for whatever course that my marks will take me.
Now, I'm scared to think about the grades. *bawl*
EDIT: Felicia's taking interior designing.

FREEDOM is the Word
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yup, I've finally finished the last of the public exams! I'm finally FREE!
I've screamed at the top of my lungs in my room and jumped up and down in excitement for 20 minutes before dropping myself hard onto my bed.
Here's the funny thing that happened during the examination...
Today, Wen Kai brought an alarm clock to the last paper, EST I. At first glance, I kinda had a hint what he was about to do, but didn't know that he'd actually do it.
Do what?
He set the alarm clock to ring at exactly 3.15 p.m, the time we finish the paper.
It was kinda funny. The alarm clock started to ring the moment the invigilator wanted to pick up the microphone to say that the time is up. The whole hall (or rather 30 students to be exact) burst into laughter! Hey, even the invigilators were chuckling too!
The alarm clock sounded the loudest to me cause he's sitting behind me.
As I was walking out to the gates, I did have a sense of nostalgia. This was the school I studied in for 5 years, no matter how much I disliked it. There's no such thing as graduation party or any of that sort in this country. As soon as you're done with SPM, you've already graduated. No party, no fun, nothing.
I must admit, there's a few things I'll happily live without.
- No more uniforms! But it isn't all that great. Now, I'd have to think of what I want to wear everyday! Gah!
- No more lousy teachers. That's the sweet part. Cause you're paying for education, the college has to provide good lecturers and they'd have to help you with your academic troubles.
- No more early morning classes. The earliest would probably be at 8. There's no longer the need to wake up at 6 to get to school.
- No more stinky toilets. Gawd, I've lived with smelly toilets for 11 years of my schooling days and will finally be rid of it.
- The constant cut of electricity. This school has more cuts than any school.
Speaking of secondary school, I don't think it turned out to be what I imagined it to be when I was between the transition of primary to secondary. I'd always imagined that we'd be walking to different locations for classes and the library would be open the whole time. I'd also thought that I'd actually be able to go out shopping with friends on weekends or have my social calendars filled with stuff to do. You know, like the high school life everyone sees on tv...
It wasn't like that at all.
But I am glad that it wasn't as I had imagined it to be. I'd definitely not learn what I know now. So to those people (and teachers) who had caused me much trouble and frustration, I now thank you for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to experience your backstabbing, gossips, troubles, nags and a whole lot other bad experiences. You guys have made me a much stronger and harder person. Thanks to you guys, I'd probably be able to handle what life throws at me much better. I'm no longer the shy and introverted girl you guys met back at Form one; now I'm the one that won't be blindly helping anyone and will dare to cuss and stick out the middle finger in your face. News flash, I could be a worse monster than you guys will ever be and it's all thanks to YOU. *evil smile*
The guilty shall feel the guilt, I need not name them.
Ah, now to relish my freedom by staying up late to read manga. I've got downloads dating back to four months ago that I've not yet read. Ta~
